Bruce A. Dumas

Bruce Dumas has been painting professionally since 1982. His love for art began as a child, as he began sketching and drawing. Originally pursuing Fantasy and Science Fiction images, he then began creating landscape paintings, and soon after depicting wildlife subjects in their environment. Previously, Dumas painted in oils, but now works exclusively with acrylics on canvas and board, representing the wide variety of nature, landscapes, seascapes, and harbor scenes encountered on his extensive field trips throughout New England and along the east coast.  He paints directly from nature and personal observation, earnestly and with passion.  Bruce's handling of contrast and color brings the canvas vibrantly alive, but he also captures a great deal of detail without his brushstrokes becoming over worked.

Bruce Dumas is an award winning painter who has exhibited in several fine art shows, and in galleries at Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont. He had successful one-man art shows at the Aardvark Art Studio, CT Audubon Coastal Center, The Sandman Gallery, and Patrick's Fine Art Gallery in New York City. Dumas had the privilege to exhibit and sell his paintings at the Greenwich Workshop Gallery, one of Connecticut's finest galleries.

Currently Bruce is a member of Lyme Art Association, which he is published for their brochure of a map illustration of “Old Lyme CT, Where Art Lives.” Dumas is signed on with Applejack Art Partners, which is one of the leading art licensing & publishing companies in the world.

Bruce studied art at Paier College of Art. Currently, his art work is displayed at four galleries (Courtyard Gallery in Mystic, CT, Montague Gallery in Concord, MA, Patrick's Fine Art Gallery in New York, NY, and Sandman Gallery in Meriden, CT.)
